Japanese Photographer Rinko Kawauchi
The exploration of birth and death, subtly aching in her lens
Dominance, horizons, light spots, eyelashes, fleeting moments – Rinko Kawauchi establishes her unique photographic philosophy with translucent azure tones and simple compositions.
Born in 1972, Rinko Kawauchi studied graphic design at Seian Women's Junior College, where she began taking photos in her photography class. At that time, the Japanese photography scene was dominated by the aesthetic benchmarks of Nobuyoshi Araki and Daido Moriyama, yet she broke away from their distinct daily themes.
